The Jack Lemmon Fansite

Dedicated to the legendary Hollywood actor

Legacy

There is no question that Jack Lemmon is one of the greatest actors who ever lived. A Hollywood legend, he is known as cinema's 'everyman', the loveable nice guy, the worrier's worrier. For more than four decades, whether working in comedy or tragedy, Jack epitomized the joys and travails of Americans in the latter half of the 20th century.
Noted as one of the most versatile U.S. film actors of his generation, Jack gave numerous memorable performances in theater, film, and television, greatly influencing a later generation of actors.

When the actor died of bladder cancer in 2001, the world was stunned as they were unaware of his illness, that he had been battling very privately for two years. But when he left us, he left behind a stream of both classic comedies and strong dramas, as well as other memorable performances on TV. Mr Lemmon left us an unforgettable legacy as he remains one of the greatest actors of all time.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre

In June 1963, Jack Lemmon joined many other stars (including Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell and Natalie Wood) to lay his handprints, footprints and signatures in wet cement at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. In the ceremony, Jack was joined by Shirley MacLaine, his co-star in The Apartment and Irma La Douce, who placed her prints next to Jack's. The place is still very popular with tourists, who have their picture taken with their hands and feet inside the prints! - with Jack Lemmon's pavement being incredibly popular indeed.

Note: the 'Magic Time' at the bottom there!
